Facebook to shut down facial recognition system, delete face prints of 1 billion users

Facebook will shut down its facial recognition system, which automatically identifies users in photos and videos, amid growing concerns about the use of the technology. "This change will represent one of the largest shifts in facial recognition usage in the technology's history," Jerome Pesenti, vice-president of artificial intelligence for Facebook's new parent company, Meta, wrote in a blog post.
