Apple has bought Akonia Holographics, a Colorado-based startup dedicated to the manufacturing of displays for augmented reality glasses. In addition to other recent purchases, this is an extremely strong indicator that the Cupertino company is actively working on AR glasses. Nearly a third of young adults in a recent study were found to be “financially precarious” because they had poor financial literacy and lacked money management skills and income stability. Spotify adds Showtime to its $5-a-month Hulu bundle for college students

Last September, Spotify announced a bundle with Hulu for students that costs $5 a month, which is an amazing deal for any college student. Now, nearly a year later, Spotify is dramatically improving on that deal, adding a Showtime subscription to the offering for no additional charge. College students in the US will have access to Spotify’s updated Premium for Students plan which includes Spotify Premium (regularly $10 a month), Hulu’s limited commercial plan ($8 a month)...

Microsoft is the right company to build the “Netflix of gaming”

A few months ago, executives from two of the world’s largest video game publishers suggested that traditional game consoles are on their way out. In separate interviews with Variety, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and Electronic Arts CTO Ken Moss both argued that instead of buying expensive hardware to play video games, we’ll stream them onto virtually any device, tapping into remote servers for the requisite computing power. And instead of downloading games or buying them on disc, we’ll subscribe to a vast catalog of titles, all of them instantly accessible. In other words, the future of gaming will look a lot like Netflix.
