End of cervical cancer close, say experts

Health experts believe Australia is on the brink of virtually eradicating cervical cancer because of vaccine and testing breakthroughs. Cancer Council WA is hosting a forum in Perth today to discuss the impact of the human papilloma virus vaccine and a new screening test for women. It argues rates of the disease are plummeting because of the widespread uptake by young women of the HPV vaccine, which protects against infections that cause cervical cancer.
