
In 1996, Bernie Stolar joined Sega America as president and chief operating officer to help release the company’s upcoming console: the Dreamcast. He says he immediately restructured the company, leading to nearly 300 job losses. “I felt that everybody wasn’t strong enough to do their jobs,” he says. “I fired most of them, then I wanted to rebuild the staff.”
