A Louisiana State health Officials Warn of ‘Brain-Eating’ Amoeba Found in Water System

Health officials in Louisiana have confirmed that an amoeba is infecting the water system in the St. Bernard parish. According to the LA State Department of Health, they found the organism via leaky sample station and has since asked the Parish to conduct an intense 60-day chlorine burn to kill the amoeba and remove it from the water supply. Of course, the Parish has agreed and will comply “out of an abundance of caution.”
