A man walked around Disney World with a T-Shirt that said 'In need of kidney' and it worked
The idea for the T-shirt was a Hail Mary, a play US man Rob Leibowitz made out of deep desperation. Leibowitz, 60, had been enduring dialysis for years while his kidneys failed. He was grateful the treatments were keeping him alive, but they were four hours long, three days a week, a challenging commitment for a single father of five working full time. He needed someone to give him a kidney.

The global crackdown on parents who refuse vaccines for their kids has begun
There’s a school of thought that refusing vaccines on behalf of your children amounts to child abuse, and that parents should be punished for their decision. We know vaccines are overwhelmingly safe and effective at preventing the spread of disease. And yet failing to immunize children can put them (and vulnerable people around them) at tremendous risk of illness or even death when outbreaks get rolling.

Yes, People Can Put Your Face on Porn. No, the Law Can't Help You
The grosser parts of the internet have a new trick: Using machine learning and AI to swap celebrities’ faces onto porn performers’. The result? Fake celebrity porn seamless enough to be mistaken for the real thing. Early victims include Daisy Ridley, Gal Gadot, Scarlett Johansson, and Taylor Swift. Originally reported by Motherboard, this nasty trend has been brewing for months, acquiring its own subreddit. And now that someone has made an app—drastically lowering the technical threshold would-be creators have to clear— it’s presumably about to become much more prevalent.

Elon Musk’s tunneling startup, The Boring Company, has officially unveiled its flamethrower. Costing $500, the fiery, undoubtedly cool device is now available for pre-order. The Boring Co. flamethrower seemingly started off as a joke back in December, when Elon Musk announced on Twitter that if he sells 50,000 Boring Company hats, he would start selling a flamethrower. The idea seemed so silly then that many members of the online community dismissed Musk’s statement as a joke. In true Elon Musk fashion, however, the fiery device actually turned out to be real.

What happened when a student sued over prayer
Kaylee Cole walks into school each morning and has breakfast with friends. Every day starts the same: Announcements, birthdays and school events are broadcast over the public address system. What comes next is what she dreads. "They say, 'Please stand for the Prayer and the Pledge.' And then we move right into it. And it's the Lord's Prayer," Cole says. Cole sits down. Raised as a Christian but now agnostic, she doesn't want to hear it.

France will invest a total of 2 billion euros in renewable energy in Africa
France will invest a total of 2 billion euros in renewable energy in Africa in 2016-20, a 50% increase in comparison with the last five years. French President François Hollande made the announcement alongside UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the Défi climatique, solutions africaines (Climate Challenge, African Solutions) summit on Tuesday at the COP 21 climate change conference in Paris. Programmes will encourage the use of solar energy, wind power, hydroelectricity or geothermal energy, depending on the potential of each country.

This Technology Could Transform Life in Cities
Satellite images let us see Earth from above. But a technology closer to Earth can give us a much more detailed look. Aerial “light detection and ranging,” also known as lidar (rhymes with eye-dar), works by sending laser pulses from a plane, helicopter, or drone. Russia's Youth Takes the Lead in Countrywide Protests Against Putin

Should he win the vote on March 18 — as is widely expected — it would extend his presidency for another six years.

Russian opposition leader Navalny arrested amid protests
Protesters gathered across Russia Sunday to support opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s call to boycott the March presidential election, and Navalny himself was arrested while walking to the Moscow demonstration. Many of the crowds that turned out in generally frigid weather skewed sharply young, apparently reflecting growing discontent among Russians who have lived most or all of their lives under President Vladimir Putin, who came to power on New Year’s Eve 1999.

Russia’s Ministry of Finance Legalizes Cryptocurrency Trading
The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation (Minfin) presented the Draft Law on the Regulation of Digital Assets, which defines and establishes a regulatory system for cryptocurrencies, UCIs, mines, and trade. Surprisingly, the Central Bank of Russia does not agree with the Ministry of Finance that the exchange of cryptocurrencies should be legally accepted. According to the central bank, digital currency trading rules should only apply to chips that attract cash.
