Italian boy survives being underwater for an extraordinarily long time
An Italian boy who fell into a canal in Milan has survived despite being held underwater for as long as 42 minutes. The 14-year-old, who is said to have jumped off a bridge in Cuggiono with five friends into water which was just 6.5-feet deep, was in hospital for a month, Time reported. House Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.) has introduced a bill that would require gun owners to carry liability insurance. The Firearm Risk Protection Act, unveiled Friday, would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon, and would impose a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have it. U.K. wants to force Internet companies to decrypt messages
The U.K. government has not given up on the idea that its secret services must be given access to communications between individuals who are suspects in an ongoing investigation, even if said communications are protected by encryption. But now a Harvard student's browser extension can now exploit the default location sharing setting to literally plot Facebook Messenger app users' movements on a map. Lockheed Martin says NSA testing smartphones that can identify you from finger swipes
The US National Security Agency (NSA) has been testing out a new technology that can identify a user by the shape and swiftness of their finger swipe strokes on a smartphone screen, according to Lockheed Martin. The technology, known as Mandrake, is similar to Dynamic Signature – a motion-recognition technology originally invented by the US Air Force in 1978 for the Pentagon that makes use of the behavioural biometrics of a handwritten signature.

New laws to give police and spies greater powers to monitor internet and phone use are in the Queen's Speech.
